Pure Water Engineering

Restoring Canada’s Lakes
Advanced Lake Remediation Services for Long-Term Water Quality

CONGRATULATIONS to all the awardees of BC Fast Pilot Projects!

Pure Water Engineering is proud to be among those selected.

The BC Fast Pilot program has allowed us to take our technology from concept to real-world deployment, providing the resources and partnerships needed to demonstrate its benefits. This program has not only accelerated our technology’s development but also strengthened our ability to deliver measurable climate and water quality across British Columbia.

See the link in our highlights for more information!

Who doesn’t love a family vacation at the lake?! Endless hours of entertainment! Chasing minnows and splashing around until the sun goes down. The wee girl in her sunglasses is @rachelpubs šŸ˜Ž

Today, Rachel is helping to lead our pilot project at Swan Lake where we are addressing harmful algal blooms and GHG emissions with LimnOx oxygenation technology.

Rachel has been hands on from the onset of this project. Boots on the water, data in hand, working side by side our community partners, monitoring methane emissions.

PWE is committed to restoring and protecting the lakes that mean so much to our community. Healthy lakes are vital - for wildlife, for people, and for the generations who will play, live and thrive around them.

This is personal.
This is possible.
This is where restoration begins.

Shyla is out on Swan Lake collecting methane readings.

Why does this matter?

Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, about 80 x stronger than carbon dioxide over 20 years.

What does methane tell us about lake health?

Excess methane typically means low oxygen at the bottom of the lake, which stresses fish, invertebrates, and aquatic plants and can worsen harmful algae blooms.

How does it affect climate change?

Methane escaping from lakes adds to warming, which can further shift lake chemistry and reduce oxygen. This is a feedback loop we want to break!

Why should communities pay attention?

Healthier lakes mean cleaner water, stronger ecosystems, and more resilient urban waterways.

By monitoring methane at Swan Lake today, we’re learning how the ecosystem is functioning and how to protect it for tomorrow.

Stay tuned for Phase 2 of our pilot, where we’ll test oxygenation technology aimed at reducing methane releases from Swan Lake.

Meet Shane Roberts, one of the owners of @purewaterengineering and @waypointenvironmental. Shane is all about living healthy and staying connected to nature. From his childhood days swimming at Springwater Pond, Aylmer, ON to exploring lakes around the globe, water has always been central to Shane’s life. These experiences fuel his passion for keeping our lakes clean, safe and full of life.

That’s why Shane and the Pure Water team are dedicated to restoring lakes across our country. Let’s protect the lakes we love to enjoy šŸ’™

Fighting Blue-Green Algae at Elk Lake

Very proud to support the @crd_bc and their oxygenation initiative at Elk Lake, working to reduce harmful blue-green algae and improve water quality for everyone who enjoys this local gem.

MASSIVE thanks to @universityofvictoria and @victoriacityrc for generously lending us your boats, your support was essential to getting the job done!

This kind of collaboration is what true environmental stewardship looks like.

After a long journey across the Atlantic 🌊(and a brief hostage situation at customs!), the methane analyzer from @uniofyork has FINALLY touched down in Victoria, BC! šŸŽ‰

A huge thank you to the University of York for trusting us with this precision instrument and shipping it halfway around the world. We’re ready to get to work measuring methane fluxes on our lakes…just as soon as we track down the right travel adapter for this weird plug šŸ”Œ

Keith Miller, one of the founding owners of @purewaterengineering and @waypointenvironmental grew up with summer days spent at Lac Ste. Anne, Alberta. Lake life was part of the fabric of his childhood.

Fast forward to today: Alberta Health Services has issued a blue-green algae advisory due to the presence of Cyanobacteria currently visible in the water.

Restoring our lakes isn’t optional - it’s essential! With the right action, we can bring them back to health and ensure families can make the same kind of lasting memories on clean, pure, swimmable lakes.

This is the story of what we stand to lose.
